Whew. Tired. Personally, I was out of power for 6 hours after I watched shingles from a neighbors house fly through the air. Estimated 60 MPH winds. I also had some pea size hail. So, I was lucky relative to a lot of other people in the area. Everyone is talking about the event at work this morning as expected.
Well folks, Lambert Field got up to 79 degrees and we paid the price. For all the details, follow the NWS Local Storm Reports and damage surveys results at the following link. LSR's and Public Information Statements. A consolidated listing and map is available from the SPC at this link. Updates will be occurring through the next several days. Items of worthy mention so far include an F1 tornado in St. Clair Co. IL, 9 railroad cars overturned in Granite City, IL, and a wind gust to 61 knots at Lambert Field.
Not to take away from this current weather event but I feel obliged to remember what happened on April 3-4, 1974. This is the Superoutbreak Anniversary. At 4:40 PM EDT on Apr. 3, 1974, Xenia, OH was devastated by an F5 tornado and 34 people perished. See links on below post.
