Severe Weather update

5:00 PM Update - Tornado Watch until 9:00 PM. The threat of severe weather continues across the area through early evening. Conditions continue to be quite favorable for the development of severe storms which could produce large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. Some location especially just to the north and east of St. Louis have had reports of hail up to golfball size and funnel clouds.
What I am currently watching closely is a broken line of supercells developing and intensifying to the west and southwest of St. Louis, basically along and just south of I-44. All of these storms are severe and producing mainly hail at this time. More favorable wind dynamics are now beginning to affect southern and southeastern MO which could further intensify these storms, some of which could become tornadic. Stay tuned. --JK
