***A Severe Weather outbreak is expected over a large portion of the Plains and the Midwest this weekend***
Current indications and model data suggests that a moderate to large scale severe weather outbreak will occur over portions of the Plains, Midwest, and South (notably KS, OK, MO, AR, NE TX) beginning on Saturday. Tornadic supercells are expected to develop Saturday across KS and OK with strong tornadoes possible.
The best chance of severe weather in eastern Missouri will be on Sunday and possibly in to Monday morning as a low pressure system drags a cold front in to western Missouri. The exact timing or mode of severe weather in the St. Louis area is not currently known as there is still some disagreement with the models. Current data does suggest that a squall line will develop over western MO during the day on Sunday and move eastward toward the area by evening. Forecast shear over the area is expected to be sufficient for embedded supercells, some possibly producing tornadoes. Otherwise, a damaging wind and hail threat will exist.
The Forecast for the St. Louis metro area…
