Severe Weather Potential today and tonight


A Warm and more humid day will be in tap for the Midwest and a developing storm system will take aim on the region this afternoon and tonight.

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has outlined all of Missouri, Illinois, and portions of adjacent states in a Slight Risk for Severe Weather for this afternoon and tonight. Within the Slight Risk area there is a Moderate Risk of Severe Weather over portions of Western and Central Missouri, and adjacent Eastern Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma.

There will be the potential of tornadic supercells over the Moderate Risk area by this afternoon. The immediate St. Louis area and Eastern Missouri and Western Illinois may experience a line of strong to severe storms by late this evening or overnight that will have rapid movement and be capable of producing strong straight line winds.

UPDATE : Several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued between Midnight and 1:00 AM for St. Louis City, St. Louis Co, and St. Charles Co. Nothing reported in Jefferson Co. but a rain shower.
