Hail Storm
Many areas of St. Louis experienced hail from pea to baseball size. My residence received a covering of pea to quarter size hail. A tornado watch was issued a couple of hours before. More details on this event here
Jon, I found out this morning that Greg Wagner (A fellow NGA employee), sustained significant hail damage to his residence. Greg lives at the entrance of St. Louis County's Bee Tree Park. Greg was home when the storm struck and witnessed golfball-sized hail. His skylights were shattered the vinyl siding was potted.
Adding to the Greg story... Imagine standing inside your kitchen while watching large hail bounce off the floor, stove, sink and cabinets. Once the skylights shattered... it rained and hailed inside Greg's house.
Here's some proof that the hail size at Lambert Field was greater than the 1/4" reported value taken by the observer. Co-worker Pat Densmore's parent's car was in long-term parking and sustained hundreds of dings. In order to create a "ding" at least dime-sized hail 1/2" to 3/4" is necessary.
Rich - I forgot to ask what happened at work when the TOR warning for St. Louis City was issued. I noticed that you guys quit responding right after I sent the email.
